Belgrade bomb: A bomb was found in Red Star Belgrade’s stadium ahead of their Europa league qualifying game against Kazakh side Kairat Almaty yesterday, Serbian police said. “During a routine counter-diversion scrutiny, a rusty hand grenade was found on the rooftop above the north-eastern tier of the Rajko Mitic stadium,” the Balkan country’s interior ministry said. “It has been taken to a secure location to be destroyed and police are investigating the case.”

UTH: Hoffenheim have completed the signing of Mark-Alexander Uth on a three-year-deal from Heerenveen. The 23-year-old striker enjoyed an impressive season in Holland last term, scoring 20 goals in 36 appearances for the Eredivisie club before they eventually finished seventh in the standings. Uth spent the 2013-14 season on loan at Heracles.

Hammond: Leicester midfielder Dean Hammond has signed a new contract with the club after his previous deal expired. The 32-year-old made just 12 appearances in the club’s Premier League survival battle last season and was out of contract at the end of June but will stay on for another 12 months. Hammond joins Marcin Wasilewski and Jeffrey Schlupp among those players to agree new contracts with the club.

Greaves: Jimmy Greaves’s agent has set up a fund-raising campaign to help the ex-England striker as he recovers from a stroke. Greaves suffered the stroke at the start of May and is now beginning his rehabilitation, with costs set to exceed £60,000. Fund-raising events with the likes of Rodney Marsh and Steve Perryman are being planned.

Gueye: Aston Villa are believed to be on the brink of completing a £9 million move for Lille’s Idrissa Gueye. Reports said Villa have agreed a fee with the French Ligue 1 side for the midfielder. The 25-year-old Senegalese, who has played more than 130 games for Lille since joining in 2010, is believed to be flying to Britain today for talks and a medical.
