Blackpool: Blackpool’s game with Huddersfield Town yesterday was abandoned in the 48th minute after fans of the relegated Championship side invaded the pitch in protest against the club’s owners, the Oyston family. With the scores locked at 0-0 shortly after half-time, hundreds of fans entered the pitch forcing referee Mick Russell to take the players off and, after an hour’s delay, the match was abandoned.

Hibernian: Hibernian beat Rangers to second place in the Scottish Championship with a convincing 3-0 win over Falkirk, yesterday. The Edinburgh side knew they had to better Rangers’ result against Hearts, and they made sure of claiming the runners-up spot thanks to goals from Martin Boyle, Jason Cummings and Dominique Malonga. They will now bid to return to the top flight via two less play-off games than they would have faced if they had finished third. Rangers drew away with Hearts 2-2.

Toni: Serie B leaders Carpi, who secured promotion to the top flight last week, are already looking to strengthening their squad for the new season and one of their targets is veteran striker Luca Toni, currently playing for Verona. Toni, 37, has given no indication he intends to quit next season and Carpi are believed to have made their approach to the striker’s agent in view of a transfer deal.

Rotherham: Rotherham have decided against appealing the three-point deduction handed down by the Football League for fielding an ineligible player. That punishment dragged the side back into a Championship relegation fight but it became academic after they took four points from their last two games to confirm their status. The South Yorkshire club were given until Friday to lodge an appeal, but despite insisting the punishment was “disproportionate” they opted to accept it.

Song: Alex Song is set to leave West Ham with Inter being named as his next destination. The 27-year-old midfielder is on loan at Upton Park from Barcelona but during the second half of the campaign his performances lacked consistency leading to the Hammers to rethink their plans to sign him permanently. Last week, West Ham also made it clear that they are ready to offload captain Kevin Nolan this summer.
