Ajax: Three members of the famed Ajax youth team were suspended yesterday pending an investigation into the beating of an undercover policewoman. The players were identified by Dutch media as 18-year-old forward Zakaria El Azzouzi, midfielder Ashraf El Mahdioui, also 18, and Samet Bulut, a 19-year-old forward. Police questioned them about the beating on Thursday of a police woman dressed in plain clothes who reportedly honked her car horn at them.

A-League: Besart Berisha netted a goal in each half as Melbourne Victory moved top of the table following a 3-0 A-League victory away to Western Sydney Wanderers. The three points moved Victory above second-placed Perth Glory on superior goal difference, while the lowly Wanderers sit second bottom after suffering their 13th defeat of the season.

Stoican: Flavius Stoican has been re-appointed as coach of Dinamo Bucharest four months after being sacked by the 18-times Romanian champions. The 38-year-old replaces Mihai Teja, who became Dinamo’s third coach of the season in January but kept the job for a little more than two months.

Tomkins: West Ham have been hit with yet another injury blow with the club confirming defender James Tomkins has suffered a dislocated shoulder. The 25-year-old has recently signed a new, long-term contract with the Hammers but could now miss several weeks having injured his shoulder in training.

Brunt: West Brom’s Chris Brunt has requested a personal hearing after being charged by the FA for allegedly verbally abusing a match official. The midfielder is alleged to have used abusive and/or insulting words and/or behaviour in the tunnel after Saturday’s 2-0 FA Cup quarter-final defeat to Aston Villa.
