Valdes: Former Barcelona goalkeeper Victor Valdes will continue his rehabilitation from a knee injury at Manchester United. The 32-year-old tore his cruciate knee ligaments in March and is without a club after leaving the Nou Camp at the end of last season. “Valdes will have his recovery supervised by the United medical staff before training with the first team as he bids to regain full fitness,” United said.
Racism probe: BATE Borisov are facing disciplinary action after Shakhtar Donetsk forward Luiz Adriano said he suffered racist insults from the crowd during his five-goal performance in Tuesday’s Champions League match. UEFA said proceedings had been opened against the Belarus side because of “racist behaviour of supporters.”
Luiz Adriano: Dunga has named Luiz Adriano, scorer four goals in Shakhtar Donetsk’s 7-0 win over BATE Borisov earlier this week, in his squad to face Turkey and Austria later next month. His Shakhtar team-mate Douglas Costa is also in the squad, alongside recalled PSG pair Thiago Silva and Lucas. Kaka, Robinho, and goalkeeper Jefferson are among those who dropped out.
Berbatov: Monaco striker Dimitar Berbatov faces three weeks on the sidelines after suffering a thigh injury in the Champions League draw against Benfica. The 33-year-old Bulgarian had to be substituted after 33 minutes of the goalless stalemate at the Stade Louis II on Wednesday. Monaco said: “Dimitar Berbatov has an adductor muscle injury in his left thigh which occurred during the Champions League match against Benfica. His absence is estimated at three weeks.”
Thiago: Bayern Munich midfielder Thiago has undergone knee surgery in Spain. The 23-year-old has been out of action for seven months after tearing ligaments in his right knee and suffered a setback in training last week, with the latest round of surgery set to sideline him for another half a year.
