Reina: Liverpool goalkeeper Pepe Reina has signed for Bundesliga champions Bayern Munich on a three-year contract. Reina, who spent last season on loan at Napoli, made 394 appearances for Liverpool since joining in 2005. The 31-year-old Spaniard will compete with Germany’s World Cup-winning goalkeeper Manuel Neuer for the number one spot at the Allianz Arena next season.
Gamez: Atletico Madrid have signed full-back Jesus Gamez from Malaga on a three-year contract. The 29-year-old has spent his entire career at Malaga but swaps the south coast for the capital and a shot at defending the Primera Liga title. Gamez passed a medical before committing himself to three seasons at the Vicente Calderon.
Falcao: New Monaco coach Leonardo Jardim has confirmed that Radamel Falcao will be part of his squad for the visit of Lorient in their first game of the 2014-15 Ligue 1 campaign tomorrow. Jardim, who took over Monaco following Claudio Ranieri’s departure, says the Colombian is not completely ready after missing most of the year with a knee injury, but he will be able to feature in the curtain-raiser at the Stade Louis II. “Falcao is not 100 per cent yet but is ready to be included in the group,” Jardim said.
Delayed: The start of the Israeli soccer season was delayed for the second weekend in a row yesterday following the resumption of rocket fire by Islamist militants in the Gaza Strip, the Israel FA said. Play in the secondary Toto Cup competition, a regular precursor to the start of league action, was due to start on the weekend of July 26 but was postponed by a week, and for a second time this weekend.
Promes: Netherlands striker Quincy Promes has moved from Twente to Spartak Moscow after a signing a four-year contract. The 22-year-old cost 15 million euros. Promes extended his contract at Twente to 2017 after scoring 11 goals in the season and winning his first cap for the Netherlands.
