Piazon: Eintracht Frankfurt have signed midfielder Lucas Piazon on a season-long loan from Chelsea. The versatile Brazilian has found it difficult to break into the first team at Stamford Bridge since his arrival in 2012 and spent last season on loan at Vitesse Arnhem where he scored 11 goals in 29 appearances. The 20-year-old previously spent time on loan at Malaga, where he made his Champions League debut.

Man. City win: Manchester City began their pre-season tour of America with a 4-1 victory over Sporting Kansas City. Bruno Zuculini opened the scoring early on for City before CJ Sapong equalised but a goal from Dedryck Boyata just before the break put the English champions back in front. Aleksandar Kolarov made it three with a penalty and Nigerian striker Kelechi Icheanacho, who has been training with City, claimed their fourth at the death.

Pozuelo: Alejandro Pozuelo has left Swansea to join Rayo Vallecano. The Swans confirmed on their official website that midfielder Pozuelo had signed for an undisclosed fee. The 22-year-old Spaniard moved to Wales from Real Betis last summer, but he has not featured for the Premier League club in recent months.

Protest: Protesters against Israel’s military offensive in Gaza attacked Israeli players at a friendly match in Austria on Wednesday evening, stopping play five minutes before the end. Salzburg police said around 20 people with flags and placards, mostly Austrians of Turkish origin, stormed the pitch shouting slogans about the Gaza conflict. Police said there were clashes with the players from Maccabi Haifa who were playing a friendly against Lille. No one was injured.

Jallet: Lyon have completed the signing of right-back Christophe Jallet from Paris St Germain. The 30-year-old joins Lyon on a three-year deal after five years in the capital which saw him play an integral part in winning two Ligue 1 titles, the Coupe de France and the Coupe de la Ligue.

Carroll: West Ham striker Andy Carroll has torn ankle ligaments and will be out of action for four months. The 25-year-old was hurt on the tour of New Zealand but the club only discovered the full extent of the problem yesterday. Carroll’s career has been blighted by injury since his move from Liverpool last year. He missed the majority of 2013-14 with a heel problem.

Montero: Swansea have an-nounced the signing of Ecuador international Jefferson Montero. The 24-year-old winger, who started all three of Ecuador’s group games against France, Switzerland and Honduras during the World Cup in Brazil, has agreed a four-year deal for an undisclosed fee.
