Schieber: Julian Schieber has left Borussia Dortmund after just two seasons to join Bundesliga rivals Hertha Berlin for an undisclosed fee. The 25-year-old striker was unable to make the breakthrough in the Dortmund side following his arrival from Stuttgart in 2012 and made just 35 league appearances for the Westphalians, scoring three goals.

Nacho: Real Madrid have handed breakthrough defender Nacho Fernandez a new six-year contract. The 24-year-old centre-back broke into the Real first team last season and made 12 Primera Liga appearances for the capital club. Nacho also featured in three Champions League games during a campaign which saw Real go all the way to the final, where they beat rivals Atletico Madrid to claim the European Cup for the 10th

Mccormack: Leeds president Massimo Cellino has moved to quash speculation over the future of Ross McCormack by reiterating his determination to keep the striker. McCormack is reported to have handed in a transfer request the day after new head coach David Hockaday was installed on June 19. But a Leeds statement read: “We would like to reiterate our desire to keep Ross McCormack at Leeds. This desire includes keeping all of our best players as we look to build a stronger and successful squad for 2014/15.”

Hong: Hong Myung-bo will continue as coach of South Korea’s national soccer team despite their early exit from the World Cup, the Korean Football Association (KFA) said yesterday. Huh Jung-moo, KFA vice president, said Hong had tendered his resignation after Korea’s 1-0 loss to Belgium in their final group game but KFA President Chung Mong-gyu had talked him out of stepping down. “I don’t think Hong’s resignation would have solved the problem so we decided to continue to trust him,” Huh said.
