Krul: Newcastle United’s Dutch goalkeeper Tim Krul will be out for two to three weeks with a knee injury, manager Alan Pardew said on Thursday. Krul, hoping to get a call-up for the Netherlands World cup squad, injured his knee in the 3-0 Premier League defeat by Everton on Tuesday. “Tim won’t play (against Southampton at the weekend),” Pardew said. “He’s out for the next two or three games for sure, so Rob Elliot will come in.

Hillsborough: Thirteen retired or serving police officers have been identified as “suspects” in the ongoing investigation into the Hillsborough disaster, the Independent Police Complaints Commission (IPCC) has said. The commission said 11 of these had already been interviewed under caution relating to a range of offences including manslaughter as well as misconduct in a public office and perverting the course of justice. A spokesman said the other two would be interviewed in the near future.

Fined: UEFA has fined Atletico Madrid €10,000 and ordered a partial stadium closure after fans racially abused Manchester City youth players in a match played last month. Former England striker Andy Cole’s son Devante, 18, was among the players representing City’s elite development squad at Atletico’s Estadio Cerro del Espino on February 26. Following an investigation into alleged incidents of racism, UEFA imposed a partial stadium closure at the next Atletico’s home clash in UEFA Youth League.

Halilovic: Barcelona have agreed a deal to sign sought-after Croatia teenager Alen Halilovic from Dinamo Zagreb, the Catalan giants have announced. The 17-year-old attacking midfielder will cost Barca an initial 2.2million euros (£1.8m) with add-ons depending on his achievements at the Nou Camp.
