Cellino: Leeds manager Brian McDermott has held talks with prospective new owner Massimo Cellino over the Italian business-man’s plans for the club. The meeting took place at the end of last week, reports in the UK said yesterday. Cellino, 57, tried to sack McDermott and install friend and former Middlesbrough defender Gianluca Festa as the club’s new coach on January 31. But the move stalled in the last minute.

Januzaj: Kosovo have asked Manchester United winger Adnan Januzaj to make his international debut in a friendly against Haiti on March 5. FIFA ruled last month that Kosovo may play friendlies against other nations excluding those which emerged from the former Yugoslavia. Born in Belgium to ethnic Albanian parents from Kosovo, the 19-year-old Januzaj is being wooed by a number of national teams including Belgium, Albania and England.

Fernandinho: Manchester City midfielder Fernandinho could be fit to face Barcelona in the Champions League this evening. The Brazilian has been out for the past fortnight with a muscle strain but has trained ahead of the first leg of the last-16 tie at the Etihad Stadium. Manager Manuel Pelle-grini said: “He has a chance. He is in the squad list. We will see tomorrow (today) who can start but he has worked without any problem.”

Norwich: Chief executive David McNally has suggested Norwich could move swiftly to replace Chris Hughton if their Premier League status is threatened. The Canaries are the only side in the bottom six not to have changed manager this season. “It would be almost delinquent of the football club to not be aware of potential candidates if for any reason your manager left,” McNally was quoted as saying.
