Friendly: Northern Ireland will travel to Cyprus for a friendly on March 5. Michael O’Neill has yet to win a friendly since taking over the national side at the start of 2012 and will be hoping a fixture against a team ranked 125th on the world – 35 spots lower than Northern Ireland – provides a perfect chance. The match will take place at Nicosia’s GSP Stadium.
Mceachran: Wigan have signed young Chelsea midfielder Josh McEachran on loan. The 20-year-old becomes Uwe Rosler’s third signing of the transfer window after bringing in Everton’s Tyias Browning and Cardiff’s Nicky May-nard. McEachran is eligible to play in this afternoon’s FA Cup fourth-round tie against Crystal Palace.
Coleman: Everton full-back Seamus Coleman has been ruled out of today’s FA Cup fourth-round tie at Stevenage due to the problem he picked up against West Brom. Coleman limped off in the 1-1 Premier League draw at The Hawthorns on Monday and his club subsequently confirmed he had sustained a ‘‘minor soft tissue injury’’.
Puyol: Barcelona defender Carles Puyol is doubtful for tomorrow’s Primera Division game against Malaga after bruising his leg on Wednesday. The 35-year-old club captain was substituted after 57 minutes of Barca’s 4-1 Copa del Rey victory at Levante after clashing with striker David Barral.
Everton: Beanpole Ivory Coast striker Lacina Traore has agreed to join high-flying Everton on loan from Monaco for the remainder of the season. The 6-foot-8 Traore moved to big-spending Ligue 1 team Monaco on a four-and-a-half year deal from Russians Anzhi Makhachkala earlier this month.
