Hoarau: Bordeaux have signed unattached striker Guillaume Hoarau for the remainder of the Ligue 1 season. The 29-year-old, who won five caps for France during his four and a half years with Paris St Germain, was a free agent after leaving Chinese side Dalian Aerbin and has penned a six-month contract with Les Girondins.

UAE entry: An Israeli inter-national with Dutch club Vitesse Arnhem has been refused permission to attend a training camp in the United Arab Emirates, the club said yesterday. The first team squad arrived in Abu Dhabi on Sunday but defender Dan Mori stayed behind to train with the reserves. Dutch politicians said the club’s decision to go ahead with the visit was “cowardly”, according to media reports. Israeli tennis player Shahar Peer was also refused permission to compete in a tournament in the UAE in 2009.

Kalou: Reports in the UK yesterday said Salomon Kalou is being hawked around the Premier League again, with the Daily Mirror linking the 28-year-old with a £2.5m move to Liverpool, Arsenal or Spurs. Kalou has scored six times in 19 Ligue 1 matches for third-placed Lille this season, but it’s believed he will be allowed to leave in January if anyone meets his asking price.

Martens: Alkmaar midfielder Maarten Martens has signed a two-year deal with PAOK Salonika which starts next season, the Greek Superleague club has announced. The 29-year-old Belgium inter-national will link up with PAOK on July 1 after penning a contract that will keep him at the Toumba Stadium until at least June 2016.

Reid: Nottingham Forest captain Andy Reid has signed a two-and-a-half-year contract extension with the Championship promotion challengers. Reid, 31, has excelled in his second spell at the City Ground, scoring 14 goals in 112 games since rejoining in 2011. The midfielder began his career with Forest before making the switch to Tottenham in 2005. Nomadic spells with Charlton, Sunderland, Sheffield United and Blackpool followed.
