Chievo: Chievo have struck a deal to sign Albanian goalkeeper Etrit Berisha from Swedish side Kalmar FF in January. The 24-year-old, who has agreed a three-year contract with the Serie A club, will move to Italy when his contract at the Guldfageln Arena expires at the end of December. Berisha has played for the Allsvenska outfit since 2008 and is renowned for his penalty-taking ability.

Guiza: Former Spain striker Dani Guiza has agreed to join Paraguayan side Cerro Porteno from Getafe. The much-travelled 32-year-old, who was part of Spain’s Euro 2008-winning squad, spent last season on loan at Malaysian side Johor Darul Takzim from Getafe having previously represented the likes of Fener-bahce, Real Mallorca, Xerez and Murcia.

Santana: Genoa have completed the signing of Argentinian winger Mario Santana from Napoli. San-tana, who spent last season on loan at Torino from the Stadio San Paolo, agreed personal terms on a move to Genoa 11 days ago – on undisclosed terms – but his paperwork has only been ratified by the Lega Serie A yesterday.

Dinamo fined: Dinamo Zagreb have been fined €25,000 by UEFA for racist chanting by their fans during a Champions League qualifier. The punishment was for incidents during Dinamo’s 1-0 home win against Luxembourg’s CS Fola Esch last week.

de la Torre: Mexico coach Jose Manuel de la Torre, under fire after a run of poor results, clung on to his job and was charged with seeing his misfiring team through to next year’s World Cup finals in Brazil. De la Torre, whose team failed to defend the Gold Cup in the US, would have his position reviewed again after the qualifiers, Justino Compean, president of the Mexican Football Federation, said.

Holden: Bolton have confirmed Stuart Holden has torn ligaments in his right knee which will leave the luckless US international occupying the sidelines once more. Holden, 27, underwent scans on the injury he picked up in his national side’s victory over Panama in the Gold Cup final on Sunday. Those scans revealed the midfielder will miss a considerable period of time again after lengthy spells out with knee problems in 2011 and 2012.
