Anti-racism app: Anti-discrimination group Kick It Out will launch a season of action today with a new mobile phone tool for fans and players to report racist or homophobic abuse. The mobile phone application will allow fans and players to report abuse directly to Kick It Out who will follow up the cases with the football authorities and if necessary the police.

Smith: Derby have strengthened their squad with the signing of Tottenham defender Adam Smith on a season-long loan. The 22-year-old right-back will spend the entire 2013/14 campaign at the Cham-pionship club and will act as a replacement for the departed John Brayford, becoming the Rams’ sixth summer signing.

Kacaniklic: Fulham winger Alexander Kacaniklic looks set to miss the start of the forthcoming Premier League season with a hamstring injury, manager Martin Jol has confirmed. The Sweden international, 21, came off early during the Cottagers’ 1-0 pre-season friendly defeat at Werder Bremen on Sunday and will be in a race against time to be fit for the season opener away at Sunderland on August 17. “Hopefully it is not too bad but he may be out for a couple of weeks,” Jol said.

Digard: Midfielder Didier Digard has extended his contract with Nice. The 27-year-old joined the Ligue 1 side in 2011 after loan spells at the Stade Municipal du Ray from Middlesbrough and has now committed his future to the club with a new deal, the length of which has not been specified.

Verratti: Marco Verratti ended all speculation about his future after signing an extension to his Paris SG contract until 2018. The Italy international had been in negotiations for a new deal just a year after joining the club for €12m. This summer, Verratti had been linked with a return to the Serie A with either Napoli or Fiorentina.
