Serie A draw: The 2013-14 Serie A fixtures list will be revealed on July 29, less than a month before the new campaign kicks off. The FIGC yesterday said the draws will be held in Milan. The Serie B fixture list will be drawn up on July 30. The Serie A starts on the weekend of August 24-25 and wraps up on May 18 next year.

Fired: Bulgarian champions Ludogorets have fired coach Ivaylo Petev after a surprise defeat in the opening round of the domestic league season, the club said yesterday. Ludogorets, who have won back-to-back league titles, slumped to a 1-0 loss on Saturday to newcomers Lyubimets 2007, whose home town has a population of less than 8,000.

Jankovic: Bosko Jankovic has left Genoa to sign for Verona, the Serie A newcomers said. No financial details were disclosed but the deal for the midfielder is believed to be worth around €2.5m. Jankovic, 29, had been at Genoa since July 2009. The Serbian was on the last year of his contract.

Bad run: Sao Paulo slumped to their sixth straight defeat after being thumped 3-0 at home by Cruzeiro in the Brazilian championship with forward Luan scoring a second-half hat-trick for the visitors. Sao Paulo, usually a dominant force in Brazilian football, dropped to 15th in the 20-team table with eight points from nine games and are already considered relegation candidates. They have lost four league and two cup games during their six-game skid.

Norwich: Norwich lost 1-0 to San Jose Earthquakes in a friendly at the Buck Shaw Stadium. New signings Ricky van Wolfswinkel and Leroy Fer played 45 minutes each, but could not prevent Cordell Cato’s goal deciding the match. Canaries boss Chris Hughton refused to be downbeat, saying: “I thought Ricky looked really sharp and Leroy was prepared to show some of his qualities, but there were a lot of pluses.”
