Bulut: Turkey striker Umut Bulut has completed his permanent transfer to Galatasaray from Toulouse. Bulut, who spent last season on loan with the Istanbul outfit, was under contract with Toulouse for another 12 months but the clubs have agreed a €2.7 million transfer. The 30-year-old, who netted five goals in 13 matches in 2011/12, has signed a four-year contract with Galatasaray.

Yepes: Veteran Mario Yepes, a free agent this summer, is on his way to joining Atalanta in the Serie A. Atalanta president Antonio Percassi told reporters the 37-year-old defender, who was on Milan’s books last season, will sign his contract this week.

Monk: Long-serving Swansea defender Garry Monk has confirmed he is stepping down as team captain, with the armband being passed to fellow centre-half Ashley Williams. Monk, who joined the Swans in 2004 and became skipper in 2006, made just 15 appearances last season. The 34-year-old is to retain the club captaincy, but 28-year-old Williams will lead the team on the field now, even when the pair are playing together.

Rafinha: Celta Vigo have signed midfielder Rafinha on a season-long loan deal from Primera Liga champions Barcelona. The 20-year-old, the younger brother of Bayern Munich-bound Thiago Alcantara, has made a handful of senior appearances at the Nou Camp and will link up with former Barcelona B coach Luis Enrique in Galicia. The son of 1994 World Cup-winner Mazinho, Under-20 international Rafinha switched allegiance from Spain to Brazil last year.

Westwood: Aston Villa have confirmed midfielder Ashley Westwood has signed a new four-year deal. Westwood joined Villa from Crewe last August and went on to make 30 Premier League appearances for the midlands outfit during the 2012-13 campaign.

Zarate: Mauro Zarate is on his way to joining Velez Sarsfield from Lazio. The Argentina club announced they had agreed terms for the 26-year-old and they are close to making the switch official. Zarate, a product of Velez’s youth system, also played for Inter but found it difficult to settle in the Serie A after leaving his country in 2008.
