Karagounis: Midfielder Giorgos Karagounis, Greece’s most capped player, has signed a new one-year contract with Fulham. The 36-year-old played 28 times for the west Londoners last season and scored two goals.

McShane: Paul McShane has signed a new two-year deal with Hull. The Ireland international was one of the star performers for the Tigers last season as they were promoted to the Premier League. And the former Man. United, West Brom and Sunderland defender has now given manager Steve Bruce a pre-season boost by penning a new deal.

Hickson: Former Everton centre-forward Dave Hickson has died aged 83. A Toffees star of the 1950s, he had two spells at Goodison Park and is also the only man to have played for all three Merseyside clubs, having also had spells at Liverpool and Tranmere .

Acerbi: Defender Francesco Acerbi will play for Serie A newcomers Sassuolo next season. The 25-year-old started the previous campaign on Milan’s books before being loaned out to Chievo. Acerbi joins Sassuolo on a part ownership scheme.

Icardi: Sampdoria have confirmed Argentinian striker Mauro Icardi will spend the 2013-14 Serie A season with Inter after signing Manolo Gabbiadini from Juventus. After 20-year-old former Barcelona trainee Icardi scored 11 league goals for Samp last season, Inter were quick to announce his imminent arrival at San Siro but the Ligurian club waited until yesterday to endorse the move.

Holt: Norwich City striker Grant Holt has joined Wigan on a three-year deal. the 32-year-old scored 68 goals in 154 league appearances for Norwich, helping the Canaries twice win promotion in his first two seasons with the League One title in 2010 and second place in the Championship.
