McClaren: Former England manager Steve McClaren has been appointed to Harry Redknapp’s backroom staff at Queen’s Park Rangers. McClaren, who has also managed Middlesbrough, FC Twente, Wolfsburg and Nottingham Forest, has been out of the game since his second spell with Twente ended in February.

Bocanegra: US defender Carlos Bocanegra has signed with MLS’s Chivas USA. Bocanegra, 34, who has made 110 appearances for the US, returns to his home state of California after playing in England, France, Scotland and Spain. Boca-negra, who began his career with Chicago Fire, played in Spain’s second division for Racing San-tander last season having moved from Rangers on loan.

McGregor: Scotland goalkeeper Allan McGregor has joined pro-moted Hull City from Turkish side Besiktas for an undisclosed fee. McGregor, who has played 29 times for Scotland, has signed a three-year deal with Hull who were promoted last season after finishing runners-up in the Championship.

Rothen: Bastia have confirmed the departure of veteran midfielder Jerome Rothen. The former France international, 35, had expressed his desire to leave the club following a disagreement with coach Frederic Hantz, which stemmed from Rot-hen being overlooked for the cap-taincy at the start of last season.

McGrath: Former Man. United defender Paul McGrath was arres-ted over alleged public order offences. The 53-year-old was arrested near the Tullamore Court Hotel in Co Offaly on Saturday after complaints were made that a man was being loud and annoying others in the area. McGrath has spoken openly about his problems with alcohol over the years.
