MJALLBY: Mjallby have been awarded a 3-0 win over Djurgarden by the Swedish FA following the abandonment of their league game on April 7. The match was abandoned after Djurgarden fans threw bottles and fruit while Mjallby players were celebrating a goal. Defender Gbenga Arokyo was struck by a pear which led referee Tobias Mattsson to remove the players from the pitch for their safety.

SHUT OUT: Toulouse supporters have been told not to make the trip to Marseille on Saturday for the Ligue 1 fixture between the two teams because of ongoing work at the Stade Velodrome. A statement said that a large section of the stand which houses the away supporters has been closed off due to renovation.

MACCABI: Maccabi Petah Tikva will return to the Israeli Premier League after one season after finishing top of the second division, following a 4-2 win over Hapoel Jerusalem on Monday. JACKETT’S OFF: Kenny Jackett yesterday resigned as Millwall manager after almost six years in charge. The 51-year-old joined the club in 2007 and was the sixth longest serving manager in the Football League behind Alex Ferguson, Arsene Wenger, David Moyes, Tony Pulis and Exeter’s Paul Tisdale. Jackett led the Lions to the FA Cup semi-final this season.

CHELSEA: Rafa Benitez ruled out extending his stay at Stamford Bridge yesterday, saying the identity of his successor was an open secret. “You know that next year another manager will be here and I think everyone knows who will be here,” Benitez said in a televised news conference, when asked if his success at the club could lead to a longer stay. Jose Mourinho is the hot favourite to return to Chelsea from Real Madrid, having won two Premier League titles for the club during his first stint in charge which ended in 2007.
