Blazer: FIFA executive committee member Chuck Blazer was provisionally suspended yesterday, less than one month after he was accused of financial mismanagement in his role as general secretary of the CONCACAF con-federation. The 68-year-old Ameri-can, who is due to stand down from the executive committee on May 30, was suspended by FIFA’s ethics committee with immediate effect.

Barton: Marseille midfielder Joey Barton was handed a two-game suspended ban for calling PSG’s Brazilian defender Thiago Silva an “overweight ladyboy” on Twitter. Barton, who has more than two million followers on Twitter, used the microblogging site to insult Thiago Silva last month. He also made disparaging comments about some of the PSG player’s international team-mates.

Pogba: Paul Pogba’s season is over after the Juventus midfielder was handed a three-match ban for spitting in Sunday’s 1-0 win over Palermo. Juve wrapped up the Scudetto against the Sicilian club in a match where Pogba was sent off after he reacted badly to a push by Salvatore Aronica. He spat at the Palermo defender to earn a straight red card in the 83rd minute.

Fan dies: A man who collapsed at a Scottish Premier League match leading to it being abandoned has died in hospital, police said. The man, aged in his 50s, collapsed with a suspected heart attack in Rugby Park’s East Stand five minutes into the second half of Kilmarnock’s home match against Hibernian on Sunday.
