Pompey: Portsmouth are set to become the biggest fan-owned club in English soccer after a legal agreement yesterday removed the final hurdle to a rescue by supporters. Portsmouth have been in administration for more than a year and are facing relegation to the fourth tier. Fans grouped in the Pompey Supporters Trust (PST) had agreed to buy the club but the deal was conditional on the administrator gaining legal ap-proval to sell the team’s Fratton Park home to them.

Angha: Arsenal have announced Swiss defender Martin Angha has signed a pre-contract agreement with Germany club Nuremberg. The versatile defender will link up with the Bavarian outfit this summer in order to nail down a first-team spot and further his career. Angha, 19, has spent three years with the Gunners, making his first-team debut in the League Cup against Coventry last September.

Barton: Joey Barton’s claims that a deal is in place for him to stay at Marseille have been denied by the club’s president Vincent Labrune. Barton, currently on loan at the French club from Premier League strugglers QPR, tweeted that he would not be returning to Loftus Road next season. Labrune said: “We would not be against the idea of keeping Joey Barton at OM but he belongs to QPR. There is no agreement as suggested by Joey Barton.”

Closed doors: Dynamo Kiev must play their next UEFA competition home game behind closed doors due to the racist behaviour of their fans at a Champions League game in November. The Ukrainian club has appealed against the sanction, which relates to the racist conduct of their fans at a Group A match with PSG on Nov. 21.

Bertrand: Chelsea’s second choice left-back Ryan Bertrand, who has deputised for the injured Ashley Cole in recent games, has a virus and will miss the Europa League quarter-final second leg against Rubin Kazan today. Netherlands youth international Nathan Ake, 18, is set to make his second start for the Londoners in the left-back position, having made his first-team debut in the league against Norwich City in December.

MFA Div. Three: Senglea vs Qrendi 7-3 (Timothy Thomas scored all seven goals for the winners); Ta’ Xbiex vs Swieqi 0-1; Attard vs Xgħajra 1-1.
