Beckham: David Beckham will be in the starting line-up when PSG take on rivals Marseille in a French Cup last-16 tie tonight, coach Carlo Ancelotti said. Asked if the former England captain, who made his first appearance as a second-half sub-stitute in the 2-0 home win against OM in Ligue 1 on Sunday, would start at the Parc des Princes, Ance-lotti said: “Yes. In the same role as Verratti.” Marco Verratti is sus-pended for the game.

Herbert: Ricki Herbert has resigned as coach of A-League club Wellington Phoenix to focus on steering New Zealand to a second consecutive World Cup finals appearance. The 51-year-old, who guided the ‘All Whites’ to their first World Cup in 28 years at the 2010 finals in South Africa, steps down with Phoenix mired at the bottom of the 10-team league with five rounds to play.

Molde: Fulham striker Lauri Dalla Valle has joined Norwegian side Molde on a permanent deal. The Finland U-21 international joins Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s side after failing to make a first-team appearance at Craven Cottage following a move from Liverpool in 2010.

Jeunechamp: Montpellier defender Cyril Jeunechamp’s one-year ban for hitting a reporter has been reduced to six months, with a further six months suspended. French champions Montpellier said the decision was made by the French football federation’s Appeal Commission. The reduction in the ban, which started on Nov. 23, means Jeunechamp will be eligible for the final round of matches of the Ligue 1 season.

Still: John Still has left his position as manager of League Two side Dagenham to take up the vacancy at non-league Luton. Still, 62, was the fourth longest serving manager in England behind Alex Ferguson, Arsene Wenger and David Moyes. But his nine-year spell – a Football League best – in what was his second stint at Victoria Road has yesterday come to an end.

Spahic: Russian side Anzhi Makhachkala have a preliminary agreement to take Emir Spahic on loan from Sevilla until the end of the season with an option to buy the Bosnia defender. “Emir Spahic left Sevilla FC’s training camp in Cartaya this afternoon to travel to Moscow,” Sevilla said in a statement.
