Rami: Valencia centre-back Adil Rami is almost certainly out of their Champions League last 16 second leg at PSG on March 6 after a scan showed he had damaged a muscle in his left leg. Valencia will miss Rami’s solid presence in defence and he also scored the club’s 90th-minute goal in last week’s first leg, which finished 2-1 to PSG.

Ganso: Santos have been given a one-match home ban after fans threw coins at the club’s former player Paulo Ganso during a match against his new team Sao Paulo. The playmaker was pelted with “a shower of coins” when he took a corner and as he left the pitch. Ganso’s move to Sao Paulo last year was seen as betrayal by Santos fans.

Mangia: Italy U-21 coach Devis Mangia has turned down an offer from Serie B promotion chasers Verona to join them for the rest of the season. Verona, currently third and coached by Andrea Man-dorlini, were not even allowed to talk to Mangia by the Italian FA. Verona are coming from successive upsets to Vicenza and Novara.

Gallacher: Rangers have signed second-choice goalkeeper Scott Gallacher on a two-year contract extension. The 23-year-old has not made a first-team appearance but has played for Cowdenbeath and Forfar on loan.

Wolves: Wolves have signed Liverpool full-back Jack Robinson on a loan deal until the end of the season. The 19-year-old made his Reds debut in 2010 when he became the youngster player to ever appear for the club’s senior side against Hull. Robinson has made 11 appearances in total for the Merseyside outfit with his most recent outing coming in the 3-2 FA Cup defeat to Oldham last month.

Preston: Preston North End have appointed former Hud-dersfield and Leeds boss Simon Grayson as their new manager. Grayson succeeds Graham West-ley in the Deepdale hotseat after the ex-Stevenage manager step-ped down to end an unsuccessful 13 months at the helm last week, having won just once in League One since November.
