Fatal crash: Paris St Germain performance manager Nick Broad has been killed in a car accident at the age of 38, the Ligue 1 club said yesterday. The accident occurred on Thursday evening, PSG said. Englishman Broad was the former Head of Sports Science at Chelsea, where he met current PSG coach Carlo Ancelotti in 2009.

Wilson: Hearts have completed a transfer coup 24 hours after their registration embargo was lifted by signing Liverpool defender Danny Wilson on loan. The former Rangers defender has struggled to win a first-team place at Anfield and has spent time on loan at Blackpool and Bristol City since leaving Ibrox in July 2010.

Strike over: Congo players have returned to training ahead of the African Nations Cup after a two-day strike following a row with the country’s football federation over bonus payments. The players refused to train on Thursday and Friday in an attempt to get the promised money pushed through before they begin their campaign in South Africa today.

Forren: Norwegian international defender Vegard Forren has joined Premier League strugglers South-ampton on a 3-1/2-year deal. Just hours after the club sacked manager Nigel Adkins on Friday, they were heralding the arrival of the 24-year-old centre-back for an undisclosed fee from Norwegian top division side Molde. Forren, had also been linked with moves to Liverpool and Everton but decided to join Southampton.

Aranda: Granada have con-firmed the signing of forward Carlos Aranda from Primera Division rivals Zaragoza. The well-travelled 32-year-old has penned a contract until summer 2014 with the Andalusian outfit.

Jardim: Olympiakos Piraeus surprisingly parted company with Portuguese coach Leonardo Jardim yesterday. Jardim took over from popular Spaniard Ernesto Valverde last year and has led the club to the top of the table with an unbeaten league record and into the last 32 of the Europa League. However, he has been criticised for the team’s perceived defensive style of play and controversial owner Vangelis Marinakis has decided to dispense with his services.

Balotelli: Milan vice-president Adriano Galliani has confirmed his club’s interest in signing Italy striker Mario Balotelli but not at Manchester City’s asking price of €37 million. Galliani said: “On Friday, Manchester City still said €37m. We will see on Monday. Under these conditions, he will remain at City.”
