Tabb: Reading manager Brian McDermott has told midfielder Jay Tabb he is free to leave the club this month. The 28-year-old has made 12 Premier League appearances this season, his last start coming in the defeat at Manchester City on December 22. However, McDermott has just signed Hope Akpan from Crawley and Sporting Lisbon captain Daniel Carrico and now views Tabb’s position further down the pecking order.

Gudjohnsen: Club Brugge have signed former Barcelona and Chelsea striker Eidur Gudjohnsen from city rivals Cercle Brugge. The 34-year-old Iceland international has agreed an 18-month contract with Club Brugge and, subject to successfully passing his medical, will join up with his new team-mates today.

Perotti: Sevilla winger Diego Perotti could be out of action for up to six weeks with a hamstring tear. Perotti limped out of Saturday’s defeat to Valencia just 17 minutes after appearing as a 62nd-minute replacement and, after undergoing scans, Sevilla estimate the Argentina international could be missing for between four to six weeks.

Van Der Vaart: Hamburg playmaker Rafael van der Vaart expects to be fit for the Bundesliga restart against Nuremberg on Sunday after picking up a muscle injury during a winter training camp. “It is looking good for Nuremberg. I expect to be there on Sunday,” Van der Vaart told reporters yesterday. The 29-year-old midfielder was injured in training at the Abu Dhabi camp last week days after a much-publicised separation from his wife.

O’Driscoll: Bristol City have appointed Sean O’Driscoll as their new manager, less than three weeks after his controversial departure from Nottingham Forest. The 52-year-old returns to the Championship to take charge of a Robins side that has won just six times this season and is six points adrift of safety. The club parted company with manager Derek McInnes on Saturday night after 15 months in charge at Ashton Gate.

Mangane: Sunderland have signed Senegal defender Kader Mangane on loan until the end of the season from Saudi Arabia’s Al-Hilal. The 29-year-old centre-back, who stands at nearly 2.00 metres, began his career in Senegal before spending time in Switzerland then Ligue 1 in France. He moved to the Middle East in 2012.

Primera Liga: Getafe vs Granada 2-2.
