RIOTS: Second division side Dynamo Dresden face tough sanctions from the German Football Federation (DFB) after their fans rioted during a Cup loss at Hanover 96, a year on from similar trouble at Dortmund. Violence broke out before the game, which Hanover won on penalties following a 1-1 draw after extra-time, as some 300 Dynamo fans broke into the stadium and clashed with police. Dresden fans then stormed the pitch after their team’s defeat, again forcing police intervention.

Cabanas returned last April to action with Itaugua, the second division Paraguayan outfit where he started out, following a long battle for fitness after he was shot by a drugs baron in the toilets of a Mexico City bar on January 25, 2010 during an argument on a day off from training with then Mexican side Club America.

KAMENI: Long-serving goalkeeper Idriss Carlos Kameni has been left out of a 24-man squad named yesterday for Cameroon’s friendly against Albania on Nov. 14 as the Indomitable Lions seek to put recent disappointment behind them. Kameni, currently languishing on the bench at Malaga, is among those players blamed for the poor form that led to Cameroon’s shock elimination in the African Nations Cup qualifier last month.
