VORM: Swansea goalkeeper Michael Vorm has signed a new four-year deal to remain with the club until 2016. The Swans announced the news on their website yesterday, confirming that the 28-year-old Holland international had committed his long-term future to them. Vorm joined Swansea from Utrecht last summer on the eve of their debut season in the Premier League.

DRIVING BAN: Arsenal defender Andre Santos was banned from driving for 12 months yesterday after admitting speeding at up to 145mph in rush-hour traffic. The 29-year-old failed to stop as he was pursued by police and wove between lanes on a busy motorway on the morning of August 17, a court heard. He was also ordered to pay £3,600 in fines and costs.

EURO 2016: The draw for the qualifying campaign for the 2016 European Championship will take place in Nice on March 9, 2014, the president of the tournament’s organising committee said. “Why Nice? Because we were looking for a city with enough hotel beds, and with the ability to hold and organise such an event,” said Jacques Lambert, who confirmed the city’s Palais Acropolis will host the draw.

VIOLENT CONDUCT: Former Colombia defender Gerardo Bedoya has been suspended for 15 matches for violent conduct after being sent off for the reported 41st time in his career. Bedoya was punished after referee Adrian Velez handed out two red cards per team in Saturday’s Bogota derby in which championship leaders Millonarios beat Independiente Santa Fe 2-1.

BAYERN MUNICH: Former UBS Germany Chief Executive Jan-Christian Dreesen will replace Bayern Munich finance boss Karl Hopfner at the end of the year. Hopfner had asked not to extend his contract past 2012. He has been at Bayern since 1983 overseeing unprecedented growth at the Bundesliga club, who have won a record 22 German titles.
