Obi: Nigeria have again overlooked Chelsea midfielder Mikel Obi for next month’s 2013 Africa Cup of Nations qualifier in Liberia. The Chelsea ace was not called up for a series of qualifying matches in June and was again not picked by coach Stephen Keshi for a September 8 clash against the Lone Star of Liberia in Monrovia.

Johnson: Sunderland boss Martin O’Neill completed a sensational deal to land Man. City winger Adam Johnson late Friday. The England international has signed a four-year contract after the two clubs agreed an undisclosed fee. O’Neill has been on the midfielder’s trail for several weeks.

Moses: Chelsea have confirmed the signing of Wigan forward Victor Moses. The 21-year-old, who featured for the Latics against the European champions last week, agreed personal terms to complete his switch to Stamford Bridge. No details were released regarding the fee or the length of Moses’s contract.

Tettey: Norwich City signed Norway midfielder Alexander Tettey from French side Rennes for an undisclosed fee. Tettey agreed a two-year contract with an option for a further year and will complete his move to England subject to international clearance. The 26-year-old becomes Norwich manager Chris Hughton’s seventh signing.

Felix: Brazil’s 1970 World Cup-winning goalkeeper Felix has died at the age of 74. “The supporters should be eternally grateful for the contribution Felix gave to the national team,” Brazilian Football Confederation president Jose Maria Marin said. “He is an idol and will be greatly missed.”

Tax evasion: The Argentine government suspended 146 soccer agents in an investigation into tax evasion in player transfers involving clubs abroad. The tax authority AFIP has been looking into what it calls irregular deals since the transfer window closed a week ago and a dozen players whose moves are under investigation have also been suspended.
