Buttner: Manchester United have completed the signing of Dutch defender Alexander Buttner from Vitesse Arnhem on a five-year contract. The 23-year-old, who was part of the preliminary Dutch squad for Euro 2012, has made 119 appearances over the last four years at the Eredivisie club.

Dawson: QPR are eyeing up a move for Tottenham defender Michael Dawson whose status as regular starter at Spurs was placed in doubt after he was left out of the squad for Saturday’s defeat at Newcastle. The Rs are in the market for another centre-back, with their need seemingly becoming more pressing after the weekend’s 5-0 home thrashing by Swansea.

Simao: Simao Sabrosa has been presented by Espanyol after becoming the Primera Division club’s fifth signing of the summer. The much-travelled Portugal winger, 32, has signed a two-year contract with Espanyol and joins fellow newcomers Joan Capdevila, Sergio Tejera, Diego Colotto and Wakaso Mubarak at the Estadi Cornella-El Prat.

Bassong: Norwich City completed the signing of Cameroon defender Sebastien Bassong from Tottenham on a three-year dea. Bassong, who played for Cameroon at the 2010 World Cup, has previously worked under Norwich manager Chris Hughton at Newcastle.

Pardew: Newcastle manager Alan Pardew has been charged for pushing a linesman during his side’s opening 2-1 Premier League win against Tottenham Hotspur on Saturday. Pardew was sent to the stands shortly after Demba Ba gave Newcastle a 54th-minute lead and swiftly apologised on TV for his “stupid” act, committed while contesting a decision.

Probe: The German Football Federation launched an investigation into alleged racist taunts directed at Dynamo Dresden’s French-born striker Mickael Pote during a cup game. The 27-year-old scored second-division Dresden’s second goal in their 3-0 rout of Chemnitzer FC in Monday’s German Cup first-round match.
