Naldo: Brazilian defender Naldo has moved from Werder Bremen to Wolfsburg for an undisclosed fee. The 29-year-old left Bremen’s training camp yesterday to link up with his new team-mates. “I am delighted with this transfer,” said Wolfsburg coach Felix Magath. “Naldo is just the right player to strengthen our team.”
Metsu: United Arab Emirates club Al Wasl have appointed Bruno Metsu as their new head coach following last week’s dismissal of Diego Maradona. The 58-year-old Metsu brings with him a wealth of coaching experience having spent over two decades in management with clubs in his native France as well as UAE side Al-Ain, Saudi Arabian outfit Al-Ittihad and Qatari club Al-Gharafa, who he left in March.
Swansea: Rayo Vallecano have accepted Swansea’s bid for midfielder Michu. The Premier League side is believed to have made a two million euros bid for the 26-year-old who scored 15 La Liga goals last season.
Soriano: Villarreal president Fernando Roig has rejected a €9 million offer from Valencia for midfielder Bruno Soriano. Roig has put a €12m price tag on the 28-year-old Villarreal youth product who attracted interest from Manchester United last season.
Vlaar: Holland international Ron Vlaar is excited at a possible switch to Aston Villa. The Feyenoord defender, 27, held talks with Villa boss Paul Lambert over the weekend and admits it would be a “dream” to swap the Eredivisie for the Premier League. He said: “I was in Birmingham to have talks with Paul Lambert and left with a positive impression. Joining Villa would be a dream come true.”
Curci: Bologna signed goalkeeper Gianluca Curci from Roma. The 27-year-old has inked a one-season loan deal, with an option to be netted outright next summer.
Single club: Polonia Warsaw are in disarray after their owner made good on a threat to quit the game and sold their top-flight berth to a second division side. Polonia’s construction magnate boss Jozef Wojciechowski has struck a deal with Ireneusz Krol, owner of southern Polish side GKS Kato-wice. Under its terms, the two teams will be folded into a single club named KP Katowice.
Rolando: Porto defender Rolando says he would be willing to leave the club this summer but only for Milan. The Rossoneri are on the look-out for a centre-half following the sale of Thiago Silva to PSG. Rolando said: “If I were to leave Porto Milan would be the only option for me.”
