Sa: Fulham striker Orlando Sa has left the Cottagers by mutual agreement, the Premier League club have announced. The 24-year-old joined the west London club from Porto at the start of last season. However, the Portuguese failed to establish himself in the first team, making seven appearances and scoring one goal against Norwich in a 1-1 draw on New Year’s Eve.

Osasuna: Miguel Archanco Taberna has been voted in as the new president of Osasuna. The 60-year-old lawyer takes over from Patxi Izco, who had been in charge of the Navarran club since 2002. Archanco, who served on the board alongside Izco, defeated rival candidate Javier Zabaleta by 3,020 votes to 1,002 giving him over 75 per cent of the vote.

Beckham: David Beckham’s disappointing week continued as his goal was not enough to prevent the Los Angeles Galaxy losing 4-3 to the San Jose Earthquakes. After being omitted from the Great Britain squad in the Olympics, the England international equalised Steven Lenhart’s seventh-minute opener with a trademark free-kick on the half-hour. The win extended the Earthquakes’ lead at the top of the Western Conference to four points over Real Salt Lake.

South Africa: South Africa have named Gordon Igesund as their new national team coach. The 55-year-old Igesund edged out Steve Komphela for the post after both were given a chance to make their cases to the National Executive Committee, a statement on www.safa.net confirmed. Komphela had been caretaker coach of Bafana Bafana following the dismissal of Pitso Mosimane last month.

Lavezzi: Ezequiel Lavezzi is in Paris to complete a medical and his €30m transfer to Paris Saint-Germain. The deal had already been struck around a month ago, but final details were being whittled down. Lavezzi was spotted in Paris yesterday afternoon and he is set to undergo his medical today before putting pen to paper.
