BANNED: A Liverpool fan has been given a four-year football banning order after he was found guilty of racially abusing rival Manchester United supporters and their club captain Patrice Evra. Phillip Gannon, 58, was seen on live TV doing a racially offensive monkey impression.

STRASBOURG: Ex-France inter-national Marc Keller has reached an agreement to take over struggling Strasbourg. Keller has agreed a deal with current owner Frederic Sitterle to take over the cash-strapped outfit and its branding rights for one euro. Keller will also become the club’s chairman.

MUDINGAYI: Inter have joined the race to sign Bologna midfielder Gaby Mudingayi. The 30-year-old made 34 league appearances to help Bologna finish in a respectable ninth position this season. “Inter have asked us for Mudingayi, just like other clubs have,” Bologna president Albano Guaraldi said. “We will evaluate the market before making a decision.”

KAGAWA: Japan midfielder Shinji Kagawa completed his move to Manchester United yesterday when he signed a four-year deal. Kagawa has moved to United from German champions Borussia Dortmund.

AUXERRE: Relegated Auxerre were hit with a four-match stadium ban after unruly fans caused a match last season to be halted three times. The action was taken by French league officials to punish Auxerre whose supporters threw toilet paper, tennis balls and a smoke bomb onto the pitch during the game with champions Montpellier on May 20.

MLS ALL-STARS: DC United coach Ben Olsen was named as coach of the Major League Soccer All-Stars squad that will face European champions Chelsea next month. Chelsea will meet the select line-up from the North American league’s 19 clubs on July 25 in Chester, Pennsylvania, at the home stadium of the MLS Philadelphia Union.
