Lazio: Lazio goalkeeper Federico Marchetti and defender Andre Dias have picked up four and three match bans respectively for aggressive behaviour in Sunday’s 2-0 loss to Udinese. The pair were involved in a bizarre incident in injury time when the Lazio defence stopped playing with Udinese substitute Roberto Pereyra then scoring his team’s second goal.

Pennant: Stoke City winger Jermaine Pennant has been charged with drink-driving. He was questioned by police after his BMW collided with a silver Audi in Sale, Greater Manchester. The 29-year-old was charged with drink-driving, driving while disqualified, and having no insurance. He is due to appear before Trafford magistrates on May 9.

2012 tickets: London 2012 put 1.4 million tickets for the Olympic football tournament on sale yesterday. Re-sales of unwanted tickets were suspended in January after problems with the Ticketmaster computer system, but the technology has been worked on and can now sell up to 250,000 tickets an hour.

Match-fixing: Top sides Galatasaray, Fenerbahce, Trabz-onspor and Besiktas are among 15 teams set to appear before the country’s Professional Football Disciplinary Board (PFDK) over alleged matchfixing which has rocked Turkish football. Turkish football federation (TFF) chief Yildirim Demiroren said yesterday that the PFDK would deliver its verdict within 48 hours after hearing all the defence statements.

Gross: Former Stuttgart and Tottenham manager Christian Gross has been fired by Young Boys after a sequence of poor results. Young Boys said that the Berne club had also parted company with two of his assistants after managing only one win in their last 10 matches. Erminio Piserchia was named interim coach for the rest of the season.
