Tigana: Shanghai Shenhua said yesterday it had terminated the contract of French head coach Jean Tigana after a dismal start to the season for the Chinese team. Shenhua named another French national, Jean-Florent Ikwange Ibenge, as the acting head coach, according to a statement on the club’s website, ending weeks of uncertainly over Tigana’s position at the club. French striker Nicolas Anelka would remain on the coaching staff, Shenhua said.

Brest: French top-flight strugglers Brest sacked coach Alex Dupont yesterday, just five games before the end of the season.
