2012 REFS: Mark Clattenburg has been named as the only British referee at the London 2012 Olympic football tournament this summer. FIFA have announced a total of 84 officials from 36 countries to officiate at the men’s and women’s tournaments. No Maltese names are in the lists.

DUO OUT: Manchester United midfield duo Anderson and Paul Pogba have been ruled out for the remainder of the season. Anderson has been battling to recover from a hamstring injury while Pogba suffered an ankle problem in a reserve game earlier this week and Ferguson has conceded both will miss the Premier League title run-in.

BROCCHI: Lazio will have to do without Cristian Brocchi for the final six games of the season after the player was ruled out for three months yesterday. Following tests in Germany he has been advised to rest completely for three months. The 36-year has a foot injury.

A-LEAGUE: The Brisbane Roar will be aiming to make A League history by becoming the first club to win back-to-back titles when they host Perth Glory tomorrow. The Roar claimed their first title in 2011 after beating Central Coast Mariners on penalties. This season the Mariners fell by the wayside during the semi-finals, despite finishing the regular season on top of the table.

EMRE: Fenerbahce midfielder Emre Belozoglu has been handed a two-match ban for insulting Didier Zokora, who accused him of using a racial slur, during a league game on Sunday. On Thursday, Trabzonspor filed a civil law suit at an Istanbul court accusing Emre of abusing Zokora.
