Serie A: Last weekend's postponed Italian Serie A programme will now be played on April 24 and 25, the Italian Football League confirmed yesterday. It means Italian top flight clubs will all play five times within a two week period starting this weekend. The 33rd round of matches had been postponed as a mark of respect due to the death of Livorno's Piermario Morosini.
Francis: Former England striker Trevor Francis was discharged from hospital yesterday after he suffered a suspected heart attack last week. The 57-year-old, who was the first player in English football to cost £1 million when he joined Nottingham Forest in 1979, was admitted to a hospital on Friday and had surgery to fit an arterial stent.
Morosini: Livorno have retired the no.25 shirt worn by Piermario Morosini before he died of a heart attack during Saturday’s Serie B match at Pescara. He had only joined the club at the end of January but Livorno announced yesterday that the no.25 will no longer be used, as a mark of respect.
Reggina: Serie B side Reggina fired coach Angelo Gregucci and opted to recall Roberto Breda who had started the season but, after a run of seven games without a win, was sacked on January 8. Gregucci lost his job after a 1-1 draw with Crotone on Saturday had left Reggina outside the play-offs zone.
Fabio: Benfica are interested in signing Man. United full-back Fabio, his agent has confirmed. The 21-year-old has struggled to command a regular place at Old Trafford since moving there in 2008.
Luiz: Chelsea’s Brazilian centre-back Davis Luiz is a major doubt for the Champions League semi-final first leg against Barcelona tomorrow after damaging his hamstring during his side’s FA Cup victory over Tottenham Hotspur on Sunday. Luiz pulled up during the second half of the 5-1 victory and was carried off the field on a stretcher.
Primera Liga: Getafe vs Sevilla 5-1.
Ligue 1: Stade Rennes vs Nice 3-1.
