Ivanovic: Chelsea defender Branislav Ivanovic was yesterday waiting to learn whether he would face a violent conduct charge after footage emerged of an off-the-ball clash with Shaun Maloney in Saturday’s win over Wigan. The FA will ask referee Mike Jones to confirm he and his assistants did not witness the incident and then review the footage – which shows Maloney going down bent double following the clash – before deciding whether to charge Ivanovic.

Modeste: Blackburn will be without suspended on-loan striker Anthony Modeste for today’s Premier League clash at home to Liverpool. The Bordeaux player will have to serve a three-match ban after his red card for violent conduct during Saturday’s 3-0 away defeat against West Brom.

Muslera: Galatasaray goalkeeper Fernando Muslera scored a penalty as the leaders ended the regular Super Lig season with a 4-0 win at Manisaspor late Sunday. Uruguay keeper Muslera made it 3-0 from the spot late on before substitute Milan Baros got a fourth. The top four – Gala, Fenerbahce, Trabzonspor and Besiktas – now go into a four-team round-robin play-off for the title with their points total from the main campaign halved.

Peszko: Slawomir Peszko has been suspended from the Cologne squad until further notice after he spent the night in police custody. The 27-year-old was arrested over an alleged dispute with a taxi driver in the early hours of Sunday morning. He was under the influence of alcohol at the time and, as a result, he has been dropped from the Cologne first team.

Albinoleffe: Serie B strugglers Albinoleffe have sacked coach Valter Salvioni and promoted Alessio Pala from the youth team after a run of six consecutive defeats. The club from the Bergamo area is bottom of the table with just five wins from 34 matches. AlbinoLeffe are seven points adrift of the safety zone.
