Rangers: Rangers have been fined £50,000 by the Stock Exchange for failing to disclose Craig Whyte’s previous disqualification as a director when the businessman completed his takeover of the club in May last year. Whyte was disqualified in 2000 for seven years but Rangers did not announce this until November 30, six weeks after the Insolvency Service had confirmed the fact in a BBC documentary.

Diarra: Fulham said yesterday they have agreed terms, pending obtention of a visa, with former Real Madrid midfielder Mahamadou Diarra. The 30-year-old Diarra, who won a string of honours with Lyon and then Real, left Monaco last year after a short spell with the French outfit and heads to Fulham on a free transfer until the end of the season.

Donovan: Landon Donovan is the highest-profile of three withdrawals from the United States team to face Italy tomorrow. The LA Galaxy forward, who enjoyed a successful second loan spell with Everton in the MLS off-season, is suffering from bronchitis and will miss the match in Genoa. Nuremberg defender Timmy Chandler and Pachuca midfielder Jose Torres have also been forced out, both by hamstring injuries.

Lahm: Germany captain Philipp Lahm has been ruled out of tomorrow’s friendly with France in Bremen with a knee injury. The DFB confirmed the full-back had been suffering for the past week with a problem with his right knee. Lahm has opted to remain in Munich for treatment.

McArthur: Wigan midfielder James McArthur has been called into the Scotland squad for tomorrow’s friendly against Slovenia after Celtic captain Scott Brown pulled out with a groin injury. Brown missed Celtic’s 1-0 win over Motherwell after going off injured during his side’s 2-0 victory over Dunfermline on Wednesday.

El Shaarawy: Stephan El Shaarawy has been included in the Italy Under-21 squad for the friendly against France, in Cannes, tomorrow. The Milan forward has been selected by coach Ciro Ferrara after Roma youngster Fabio Borini was promoted to the full squad on Sunday.
