Terry: Chelsea manager Andre Villas-Boas said John Terry is rated only 50-50 for tomorrow’s Champions League match against Napoli. The Blues captain was left out of the line-up for the FA Cup tie against Birmingham on Saturday, despite recovering from the knee injury which has sidelined him for three weeks. Villas-Boas said: “We will have to wait and see. At the moment there is a 50-50 chance of him making it.”

Castaignos: Inter forward Luc Castaignos has been handed a three-match ban after he was caught on video spitting at Andrea Raggi, during the final minutes of Friday’s 3-0 home defeat to Bologna. There seemed to be some distance between the players but Castaignos was still punished for the gesture.

Bleiberg: Gold Coast coach Miron Bleiberg has quit the club immediately after feeling chairman Clive Palmer “took away his dignity” by suspending him last week. Bleiberg was given a one-match suspension by the club after claiming Palmer’s decision to name 17-year-old debutant Mitch Cooper captain was nothing more than a ceremonial gesture.

Magri: Young Portsmouth centre-back Sam Magri is to go on trial with Liverpool this week. Magri, of Maltese descent, has regularly featured at youth level for England and was part of the squad that travelled to Mexico last summer for the U-17 World Cup. If the week’s trial goes well, the two clubs will sit down and negotiate a deal over a permanent transfer.

Sacked: Notts County have sacked manager Martin Allen following Saturday’s 3-0 defeat at Hartlepool. County made the move despite the defeat being their first in five League One games. Allen was appointed in April 2011 in controversial circumstances having only agreed to take the manager’s job at Barnet the previous month.
