Pompey: Vladimir Antonov has resigned as chairman of Portsmouth after the club’s parent company was placed into administration. The Russian businessman, whose company Convers Sports Initiatives bought Pompey in June, has also quit as club director following the news.

Ream: New York Red Bulls defender Tim Ream will train with West Brom and Bolton over the next fortnight. His agent Patrick McCabe said, though, a potential January move for 24-year-old Ream would have to be right for the player. “Tim certainly is interested in moving to Europe but, at the right time and under the right conditions,” he said.

Ronaldo: Real Madrid have a slight injury doubt over Cristiano Ronaldo ahead of this weekend’s Primera Division clash with Sporting Gijon. The club confirmed the forward had suffered a sprain and contusion to his left ankle and sat out yesterday’s training session.

Huddersfield: Huddersfield’s 43-match record unbeaten league run came to an end late Monday when they were beaten by Charlton in League One. The Terriers had not lost in the league since their 4-1 defeat by Southampton on December 28 last year.

Mancini: Brazilian winger Mancini was found guilty of rape by a Milan court on Monday and sentenced to two years and eight months in jail. The former Brazil international was accused of sexual assault on a woman in December of 2010 while playing for Milan on loan from city rivals Inter. The 31-year-old Mancini is now contracted to boyhood club Atletico Mineiro.

Melo: Lille striker Tulio de Melo has been ruled out for four to six weeks after suffering a torn hamstring. The 26-year-old Brazilian was substituted in the first half of Lille’s 2-0 win over Brest on Saturday after he picked up the injury.
