Kean: Blackburn supporters are to stage another protest calling for manager Steve Kean to be sacked at Sunday’s clash with Tottenham at Ewood Park. It will be the third consecutive home match featuring an organised demonstration against the Scot, who has won only six of his 29 Premier League matches in charge and whose team currently sit bottom of the table.

In court: Two prostitutes suspected of robbing France midfielder Yann Mvila face charges in a court hearing on December 6. According to sources, M’Vila and an unnamed friend agreed a sum with the women to provide services of a sexual nature at a Montpellier hotel on August 10. The following morning the players awoke to find they had been robbed of expensive watches, computers and mobile telephones.

No appeal: South Africa have withdrawn an appeal to African football body CAF against the head-to-head rule which led to their elimination from the 2012 Africa Cup. South Africa believed goal difference separated teams finishing level on points after the final matches this month and celebrated after a 0-0 home draw against Sierra Leone. The reality was that Niger, despite a 3-0 drubbing in Egypt, topped the table on the head-to-head rule that has been part of CAF competitions for almost a decade.

McInnes: Struggling Champion-ship side Bristol City have named St Johnstone’s Derek McInnes as their new manager. The 40-year-old Scot was given permission by the Perth club to talk to the Ashton Gate outfit last week, and leaves St Johnstone after four years in charge. The Saints will receive compensation believed to be in the region of £100,000 for their boss.

GB Teams: Stuart Pearce and Hope Powell will lead the British men’s and women’s football teams at the 2012 Olympics after their appoint-ments were yesterday announced by the FA. Great Britain will field a men’s team in the Olympics for the first time since the Rome Games of 1960 and next year will be a debut appearance for the women’s team.
