Klose: Lazio’s striker Miroslav Klose is a doubt for Sunday’s derby against Roma with a knee injury, his club announced yesterday. The 33-year-old was in the Germany squad for the final Euro 2012 qualifier against Belgium yesterday, but returned to Rome on Monday for treatment. He has injured the ligaments in his left knee and the Lazio medical staff confirmed that a decision will be made on his fitness in the next 48 hours.

Reinstated: Asteras Tripolis have been reinstated in the Greek first division after the Appeals Com-mittee of the football federation overturned an earlier decision by the Disciplinary Committee of the Super League. Asteras had become the third club to be kicked out in a match-fixing scandal which left the top flight reduced to a 13-team competition. However, this decision will allow the Super League to continue with 14 teams in which it started the season in August.

Mancini: A judge has requested a three-year jail term be imposed on Brazilian footballer Mancini for the alleged sexual assault of a young woman at a party organised by team-mate Ronaldinho. Former Roma, Inter and Milan winger Mancini is accused of taking advantage of a drunken woman at a party in Milan last December. The seven-times capped player is alleged to have offered to escort the model home, before taking her to his apartment where the sexual attack occurred.

Woods: Ex-England keeper Chris Woods has been hired to become the keepers’ coach of the US national team. For the past 13 years, Woods has been the goaltending coach for Everton. He has been given permission to take the American posting while continuing his coaching role with the Toffees. Woods, 51, was recruited by new US head coach Jurgen Klinsmann who talked to Everton before bringing in Woods.
