Postiga: Portuguese international striker Helder Postiga signed for Spanish side Real Zaragoza from Sporting Lisbon for a million euros on Wednesday. The 29-year-old former Porto and Tottenham striker had been with Sporting since 2008.
Belmajdoub: Former Franco-Moroccan football star Abderrahmane Belmajdoub has died in Casablanca at the age of 89. Belmajdoub was nicknamed ‘The Prince of the Parc’ during a glittering spell with Racing Club de Paris between 1951 and 1953, before winning the French Cup with Nice alongside Just Fontaine in 1954.
Schalke: Schalke left it late to make Teemu Pukki their final signing of the summer with the contract registered with the German FA just before the transfer deadline on Wednesday. The Finish forward almost managed to knock Schalke out of the Europa League with his three goals in the play-off games between the two sides which put HJK Helsinki on the brink of a major shock.
Perrin: Saint-Etienne have confirmed that captain Loic Perrin will be out for between five and six months after suffering a serious knee injury. Perrin must undergo surgery after rupturing the anterior cruciate ligament in a League Cup match against Bordeaux.
Polanski: Poland midfielder Eugen Polanski will miss his country’s next two friendlies, against Mexico and Germany, due to a calf injury. Polanski picked up the injury in Sunday’s 1-1 draw with Hannover.
