Holman: Midfielder Brett Holman has pulled out of Australia’s squad to meet Wales in Cardiff today due to a groin injury. Holman suffered the problem in AZ Alkmaar’s 3-1 win over PSV on Sunday and will be replaced by the uncapped Adam Sarota. The friendly in Cardiff will mark the first meeting between Australia and Wales.
Alfaro: Alejandro Alfaro has agreed a five-year deal to join Mallorca from Sevilla for an undisclosed fee. The 24-year-old forward became the club’s sixth signing ahead of the 2011-12 season.
Petrovic: Blackburn have completed the signing of Partizan Belgrade midfielder Radosav Petrovic, for an undisclosed fee. The 22-year-old has signed a four-year contract with the Premier League club, having received a work permit. The 6ft 4in defensive midfielder has made 19 appearances for Serbia, having made his debut for the country in August 2009.
Chadli: Belgium striker Nacer Chadli has pulled out of today’s friendly international against Slovenia with a knee injury. Twente’s Chadli missed the Johan Cruyff Shield win over Ajax and also the Eredivisie opener against NAC Breda.
Commons: Midfielder Kris Commons has withdrawn from the Scotland squad for today’s friendly with Denmark due to a foot injury. Commons reported for Scotland duty on Monday wearing a protective boot before returning to Celtic for further treatment.
Pienaar: Tottenham Hotspur’s South African international Steven Pienaar will miss the first six weeks of the Premier League season after suffering a groin injury. Pienaar, 29, picked up the injury during Spurs’ pre-season friendly against Athletic Bilbao on Saturday, and underwent surgery yesterday. Pienaar joined Tottenham from Everton in January on a four-year contract.
