Pitroipa: Jonathan Pitroipa looks set to complete a move from Hamburg to Rennes in the next few days. The 25-year-old Burkina Faso midfielder flew from Germany to France over the weekend and will now discuss the terms of a move to the Brittany club, for a reported fee of €3.5m.

Amini: Australian teenage star Mustafa Amini has signed for Borussia Dortmund but will be loaned back to his A-League club Central Coast Mariners. The deal enables the 18-year-old playmaker to play for the Mariners in the 2011-12 A-League season and the group stage of the 2012 AFC Champions League until May 31 next year.

Abate: Milan wing-back Ignazio Abate, 24, is set to prolong his stay at the Rossoneri by extending his contract to 2015. Abate, who had an outstanding season for the Serie A champions last season, will get a significant increase in his wages and the deal is likely to be signed this week.

Friendly: Newcastle United will face Fiorentina in their final pre-season friendly. The Magpies will take on Sinisa Mihajlovic’s men at St James’ Park on August 6. It will be the first time the two sides have met since the final of the 1972-73 Anglo-Italian Cup in Florence, a game Newcastle won 2-1.
