Motorsport Team Malta driver Johann Spiteri has taken another Virtu Ferry crossing to Sicily this week to take part in the sixth and final round of the Campionato Siciliano di Velocita in Pista at the Autodromo Valle dei Templi, Ra-calmuto, Sicily.

Spiteri has raced in four of the five rounds of this year’s champion-ship with plenty of success.

He won three times and when he didn’t win, he placed second.

But, unfortunately, this may not be enough for the Maltese driver who was forced to miss round two due to personal commitments, allowing his nearest rival, young Sicilian Filippo Costa, to take an unchallenged win and 10 valuable championship points.

But all is not lost and Spiteri is back in Racalmuto satisfied that he has done an excellent job to date, and hopeful that he can do it again this weekend.

It’s not going to be easy though but if a couple of other drivers position themselves between Spiteri and Costa, the champion-ship could still head the Maltese driver’s way.

Qualifying at Racalmuto takes place this afternoon with the 12-lap race starting at 4 p.m. tomorrow.
