The House of Representatives will once again open its doors to host some of Malta’s finest modern art for the upcoming exhibition Reaching for the Spirit: 20th Century Images of the Religious and the Spiritual.

The participating artists, Carmelo Mangion, Antoine Camilleri and George Fenech, were all catalysts for modern art in Malta in varying ways during the 20th century. Their legacy still remains of great importance and interest to contemporary artists and scholars.

The exhibition will also deal with the spiritual art these artists produced.  They were were clearly knowledgeable of Scripture but their interpretations were highly personal.

The exhibition, open to the public until April 15, is organised by the Speaker, Anġlu Farrugia. Opening hours are Monday to Friday between 9am and 4pm and on Saturday and Sunday from 9am to 12.30pm. A public lecture by Lawrence Pavia will be held on April 12 in the foyer of the House or Representatives in Valletta.
