The St Julian’s Residents’ Association welcomed the planning authority’s decision to approve a new block of apartments in Spinola and the restoration and conversion of the historic Villa Frieres into a diplomatic residence.

The association said it appreciated the consultations and the decision took into consideration the rights of existing residents who objected to the original plan.

It also thanked Flimkien għal Ambjent Aħjar, the local council, mayor and members of three political parties who gave support.

This showed the planning process could result in projects that promote growth and respecting residents’ interests, it said.
