Mr Speaker Michael Frendo yesterday called for an apology from the editor of the Maltese-language daily l-orizzont over what he described as contempt for his Office and the whole House.

The newspaper published an editorial comment in yesterday’s issue referring to Henry Frendo as “the brother of Nationalist Speaker Michael Frendo”.

Dr Frendo said he had always been loyal to the House and to the Chair although he was also proud to be Prof. Frendo’s brother and to have served in the Nationalist Party. He called on journalists to be educated that the Speaker was President of the House and not a representative of any political party.

He said he expected an apology, without prejudice to further action.
