The Easter International Swimming Meet, held annually at the National Pool, has again sent the records tumbling this year as no fewer than 11 new limits were set, one at national and 10 at age-group level, including one that was equalled.

The protagonists were Neil Muscat with five, Julian Harding with four, Edward Caruana Dingli and Kristina Fino with one each.

Caruana Dingli set a new national record in the 200m IM. His time of 2:14.45 was one-hundredth of a second faster than the previous mark held by Andrea Agius since 2011.

Fino (born 2001, Group B) broke the 100m butterfly record in a time of 1:13.93. The previous best of 1:14.07 belonged to Amy Micallef which was recorded in December 2012.

Harding (born 1996, Group D) broke the following four records: 100m butterfly 00:57.92 (previous record 00:58.41 – Scerri in July 2005); 200m butterfly 02:11.96 (02:12.71 – Scerri in July 2005); 50m butterfly 00:26.08 (00:26.35 –Harding in December 2012); 200 IM 2:15.44 (2:17.12 – Harding in April 2012).

Muscat (born 1998, Group C) broke four and equalled one record: 200m backstroke 02:20.49 (previous – 2:20.65, Mark Sammut in December 2008); 50m backstroke 00:28.45 (00:29.07 – Muscat in December 2012); 100m freestyle 00:56.02 (first leg relay 4x100m) (00:56.04 – Muscat in December 2012); 100m backstroke 01:02.00 (01:03.71 – Muscat in July 2012); 50m freestyle 00:25.55 (equalled record 00:25.55 – Matthew Zammit in October 2010).
