Ħamrun Spartans will continue their 2012-13 pre-season with a 10-day training in Bulgaria starting from Monday under the guidance of coach Stefan Sultana.

Club president Daniel Sullivan said the Reds had entered into a partnership with Bulgarian investors and the team will now travel to Bansko where they will step up their preparations ahead of the new season.

“Next week the squad will travel to Bulgaria where they will be greeted by our new technical director Atanas Marinov,” Sullivan said.

“Marinov’s job at the club will not only entail the senior team but he will also be responsible of our youth selections.

“Next season we want to play in the Championship Pool but we are also planning to blood in some of our young players from the nursery.”

New signings Terrence Scerri, the burly forward who joined on loan from Valletta, and Terrence Vella, formerly of Birkirkara, will make the trip to Bulgaria where Sultana will also assess a few foreigners on trial with the Reds.

On their return, Ħamrun are expected to host a triangular tournament at the Tedesco Stadium on August 6 with the participation of Division One sides Żejtun Corinthians and Naxxar Lions.

On August 10, the Spartans will also play the pre-season Tivoli Cup. Their opponents this time will be Birkirkara.
